Before Matilda could even react, she saw Yvan turn and dash into the crowd, his lean figure slicing through like lightning among the group of men!
Screams erupted continuously until finally, a voice roared, "Move and I shoot!"
This was a foreign land where carrying a gun was as common as carrying a wallet!
Matilda froze, her mind flashing back to the brawl six months ago, where Yvan was shot multiple times and fell off a cliff. She couldn't help but scream, "No... Don't!"
Hearing her frantic voice, Yvan felt a surge of determination. He faced the barrel of the gun, and before the man could pull the trigger, Yvan kicked, sending the gun flying from his hand!
The gun tumbled through the air, landing right by Matilda's feet.
Matilda stared at Yvan's actions, then the man turned back and yelled at her, "Pick up the gun!"
His voice pierced through her, and without a second thought, Matilda followed Yvan's command, grabbing the gun that had skidded to her!
"Damn it!"
She heard the men curse, and right after, Matilda lifted the gun, its dark muzzle now aimed at the leader of the group!
Go?
Before Matilda could grasp the situation, Yvan was already running with her in his arms, the men behind them roaring, "After them!"
"Run! Keep moving!" Holding Matilda tightly, Yvan raced against the wind under the moonlight. In that moment, Matilda, jostled in his arms against the backdrop of a thousand stars, realized they had become a pair of fugitive lovers on the run in the dead of an Australian night.
Matilda's eyes were red, her body burning up with the intensity of Yvan's masculine presence enveloping her entirely. She felt as if all her strength was drained by the adrenaline, her limbs weak. The man's crisp, compelling scent nearly unleashed all her hormones and a flurry of thoughts in her mind. Clutching Yvan's shirt, she rasped, "Wait a moment..."
Yvan jumped over a road barrier, and a sports car sped towards them. It was Lance, responding to the location Yvan had sent him earlier.
