Lance, dragging Yvan through the bustling crowd at the event, collided face-to-face with Matilda, who was walking towards them engaged in conversation with a business partner.
Matilda froze in her tracks, her gaze locking onto the dark-haired, dark-eyed man amidst the crowd. Time seemed to stand still at that moment, the clamor of the world fading into the background, leaving a profound silence in its wake.
Lance hadn't expected that simply pulling Yvan back into the fray would result in a direct encounter with her. The words he had been about to say got stuck in his throat upon seeing Matilda's fair-skinned face, her eyes slightly widened in surprise—she had never anticipated seeing Yvan again.
"My God…" Lance muttered under his breath, a rare display of awe. He had previously dismissed Yvan's obsession with Matilda, but now, he suddenly understood the fervor in his heart, "She's breathtaking…"
Yvan's eyebrows shot up in annoyance, "What do you mean by that?"
"I'm in love with her eyes," Lance blurted out, his words tumbling out in excitement. "They're a treasure beyond compare. Let go of me; I have to go talk to her, release me!"
That sent Yvan into a rage, "Dream on, she's my find, not yours!"
"Come on, we're buddies. What's wrong with me giving it a shot?"
Lance shot back shamelessly, "Who if not us, huh? Aren't we in this together?"
"Get lost, we're done being friends! Over! Who's in this with you?"
"Fine, we're over! If we're over, that means I've got a chance with her. Are you letting go or not?"
"Oh? You've met before?" Mr. Avice chuckled, "That saves me quite a bit of effort. Matilda, this is the CEO of the company I've been telling you about. Young and promising, I think a cross-border collaboration between you two could be beneficial for the future of both your endeavors."
Matilda couldn't believe it; the CEO of the international conglomerate was this man?
Then… what about the Boyd Group?
"Is this his new venture?"
"It's been around for a while now, growing rapidly, so don't underestimate him," Avice said, full of praise as he introduced Yvan. "Both of you are reliable individuals. I'd love to see you collaborate. Mr. Boyd, this is my dear friend Matilda, a strong and independent young lady. I must admit, I haven't been able to be of much assistance to her, so this time, I hoped to introduce you two…"
