A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 656

...

"Charity gala, you say?" Adrian spun his pen with a chuckle upon receiving Matilda's call. "Sure thing, as long as it's with you, I'm always free."

Matilda adjusted her hair, "Okay, great. How about dinner tonight? I'll text you the time and place."

"Are you treating?"

Adrian smirked knowingly, squinting his eyes in delight, "Well then, I'll pick something pricey."

Matilda couldn't help but laugh, "Sure, I'll catch you after work at your office."

"Deal." They hung up, and Adrian put away his phone, spinning his pen as he glanced at the calendar.

It's been half a year since Yvan passed... Time sure flies...

When Matilda got up to leave work, Orson was there to pick her up, "Busy day?"

"Not too bad, but I've got a busy few days ahead," Matilda winked at Orson, taking the energy drink he offered her, "Thanks, Orson."

She had grown to accept Orson's presence, habitually calling him by his first name, though each time Orson heard it, his eyelashes fluttered, his expression falling silent.

Expressing himself was never his strong suit.

"Can you drop me off at Adrian's?" Matilda linked her arm with Orson's naturally. God took away Gideon but sent her another brother-like figure, making her feel incredibly fortunate.

What a blessing... to have another family member...

Matilda smiled at Orson, "Let's have dinner together tonight."

"I was worried you were getting depressed..." Adrian muttered, "That's not a diet, that's pushing yourself too hard..."

Matilda's smile faltered, her voice shaky, "It's okay, I'm not tired."

"You never say you're tired." Adrian started the car, almost to himself, "You never... show your vulnerability in front of others."

...

Meanwhile, in a cozy pub in Canberra, Australia, a man with finely combed hair sat on a sofa, his dark eyes twinkling in the dim light, teasingly saying, "Mate, what brings you all the way here?"

Keaton looked up, "Someone's coming to Australia soon."

"People come to Australia every day." The man's eyes narrowed into a playful smile, his grin more intoxicating than the drink in his hand, "You coming all this way... must mean some VIP is arriving, huh?"
