Matilda couldn't help but wonder about the overwhelming warmth of the family, and before she could utter a word, she saw a cool, handsome guy making his way through the crowd, extending his hand towards her, "Nice to meet you."
Matilda awkwardly reached out for a handshake, "Hi, hi..."
Godfrey's mom chimed in from the side, "Oh dear, your youngest son is quite the looker, doesn't he resemble his dad?"
Matilda chuckled, "Yes, he does look a lot like his dad."
"That's wonderful, you're quite lucky." Godfrey's mom immediately treated Chloe and Matilda like her own, showering Logan with compliments, "Godfrey, when are you and Chloe going to have a cute little one yourselves?"
Chloe's face turned beet red, an unprecedented level of embarrassment for her. Godfrey's family was both warm and attentive, embodying the true spirit of a united family, where nobody looked down on anyone else. The respect they showed made Chloe deeply moved.
As Godfrey's mom was leaving, she sneakily slipped a credit card into Chloe's pocket, whispering, "This is for you, use it for your expenses, the PIN is six zeroes, feel free to use it!"
Chloe immediately tried to refuse, "I can't accept this, really! It's too much!"
Godfrey's mom laughed, insisting, "Oh, dear, it's nothing for us; you've been so good to Godfrey. This is the least we can do. We're looking forward to your wedding, take care of yourself. And if Godfrey ever steps out of line, you come straight to me!"
"Exactly, Chloe, don't be shy with us," Godfrey's sister, Vicky Walker, added. "You've practically saved my brother's life; we already consider you part of the family. If Godfrey ever gives you trouble, I'll be the first to set him straight!"
Chloe leaned on his shoulder, murmuring, "Aren't we... dating? Of course, I had to come... otherwise, it'd look bad on you."
"To me, this feels like you've accepted all of me," Godfrey tenderly lifted Chloe's face, softly asking, "May I kiss you?"
Chloe's fingers tightened, her face flushing red with shyness. Godfrey's Adam's apple bobbed as he waited for her response, but without waiting for her answer, he kissed her.
It was their first kiss, and Godfrey himself was a bit nervous and shaky, but Chloe didn't push him away.
Godfrey's eyes sparkled with surprise, and then he gently held the back of her head, as they kissed in the living room. Matilda and Logan exchanged a glance, smiling as they quietly retreated to their room, then sat down on the bed.
