Chloe still blushed at the memory of the Godfrey family's warm hospitality. Matilda watched her, a relieved smile spreading across her face.
As long as Chloe was happy, Matilda felt at ease. As for herself, she had never really counted on anyone in her life.
Logan didn't come along; instead, he was at home, video chatting with Ricky. The boy was visibly not in high spirits, nearly breaking into tears as they talked.
"Come on, don't cry," Ricky sighed, shaking his head. "Did you go to your dad's funeral?"
"No." Logan hugged himself, "I didn't want to see him... like that."
Yvan, such a proud man, how could he end up like this? If he were still around, he'd never allow it.
"I keep feeling like it's not over..." Ricky murmured on the other side of the screen.
Logan looked up sharply, "What do you mean by that?"
"I mean," Ricky glanced around, "it feels like Yvan... might not be completely gone."
Not completely gone? What did that mean?
"If he had everything planned out, surely he'd consider his own death in those plans," Ricky reasoned, staring at Logan. "So, let's think about it backward. If he could foresee his death, wouldn't Yvan be prepared?"
Logan was stunned.
"Yvan's fall reminded me of something," Ricky's eyes held a glint Logan hadn't seen before, "like that scene from the Sherlock Holmes stories. Sherlock and his adversary Moriarty falling off the Reichenbach Falls together, only for Sherlock to come back later."
Ricky's previously spirited face froze, then Logan, covering his mouth, giggled, "I knew it~~~"
Ricky wished he could reach through the internet to smack the cheeky kid, "No, it wasn't! It wasn't for a woman!!"
He... it was for Ventus...
But he couldn't continue, Ricky's face reddening, "Get lost! And here you are, gossiping about your master, I curse your old man to die quicker."
"You get lost!" Logan immediately stood up, "My dad's not dead! He'll definitely come back!"
"Oh! All this time calling him Mr. Boyd, now suddenly it's 'dad' when he's in trouble. You sure are quick to change sides," Ricky sneered, "Who knows when your old man will come back..."
