A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 639

Matilda sat on a bench outside the hospital, her gaze fixed on the entrance. When she saw Adrian emerge, she stood up, a mixture of anticipation and dread in her eyes. "How are they?"

"Violet's awake."

Adrian reached out, gently smoothing Matilda's hair, a gesture of comfort. "That's good. From now on, the Boyd family is history for you."

Matilda's response was a mere whisper, her thoughts a tightly locked chest that no one could open.

The ride home with Adrian was quiet, the silence a blanket over the both of them. When they arrived, it was Logan who greeted them at the door, his surprise at seeing Adrian evident on his face. "Adrian, you're here?"

A smile cracked Adrian's somber mood. "Yeah, buddy. Am I welcome?"

"Of course!"

Logan, feeling a bit relieved, turned to Matilda with a question that had been burning inside him. "Mom, any news about the Boyd family?"

Matilda hadn't yet mustered the courage to tell Logan about Yvan's passing. Just the thought of conveying such news required every ounce of bravery she possessed.

The man who had tormented her was gone from this world. She should feel relieved, shouldn't she?

Taking a deep breath, Matilda opted for a gentle approach. "Logan, it's time we start fending for ourselves."

Their future was now a path they had to walk alone, just mother and son.

At her words, Logan's expression froze, and tears welled up in his eyes almost instantly.

"Mom..." Logan's voice trembled. "What do you mean? Mr. B..."

He couldn't even finish the name.

Matilda pulled Logan into a hug. "It's all over."

Keaton never imagined that Yvan, who had once had the world at his behest, would end up so forsaken in a foreign land, his demise leaving him unwelcome by any.

In Australia, Keaton was desperate, eventually turning to the internet for help. A family from abroad offered their private jet to bring them back to Whty City.

That night, Keaton nearly knelt in gratitude, tears in his eyes as he thanked them in English, "Thank you for letting my friend return home."

"Don't mention it, God bless you all..." The foreign family expressed their sympathy, saddened by their story. "Your friend must have been a remarkable man."

After wiping away his tears, Keaton finalized the arrangements to bring Yvan back. As the plane landed, Noel, with his wife by his side, joined Matilda, Declan, and Adrian in waiting. When Yvan's body was brought out, Matilda turned away, the finality of his choice weighing heavily on her.

To choose such an end was beyond cruel...

Later, Violet's grief was palpable, her cries for her son to wake echoing painfully. Declan had to restrain her, trying to bring some solace. "Violet, please, calm down. Yvan wouldn't have wanted this for either of you..."
