A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 595

That night, under the cloak of darkness, Yvan and his crew rushed a badly injured Orson back to the hospital where Keaton was on duty. The moment they burst through the doors, Keaton, clad in his white lab coat that seemed to billow behind him as he moved, was ready to spring into action. "You're here?"

"Yeah, it's pretty urgent," Yvan said, as the others hoisted Orson onto a stretcher. "He needs to make it through this."

"Understood."

Keaton glanced at Orson's wounds and clicked his tongue in dismay. "Who did this to him? Some of these cuts are already infected..."

As they hurried Orson into the operating room, Logan's anxiety was palpable. He was used to seeing Orson standing tall against any threat, seemingly invincible. The sight of him now, barely clinging to life, was a stark reminder of how even the strongest can have their moments of vulnerability—usually as a result of a severe blow.

Outside the operating room, Yvan, R7CKY, and the others waited anxiously. Yvan cast a glance around. "Aren't you worried about being recognized, standing out here in the open?"

R7CKY and Ventus, standing side by side, shook their heads. "No one would guess we're elite hackers."

Yvan let the silence hang before speaking up again, "What if I call in a tip right now? There's a five-million-dollar bounty on that."

Logan's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Do it! We'll figure out the rest later!"

"How could you betray your own mentor like that? Have you forgotten who's been looking out for you?" R7CKY protested, half in jest. "Ungrateful pup."

Logan stuck out his tongue, the tension momentarily broken among the group.

Meanwhile, Hadrian was being guarded in Yvan's private room, a space usually off-limits to the public and closely watched by various bodyguards to prevent any unwelcome attempts on Hadrian's life.

Orson was wheeled into a room, and the group followed, particularly Logan, who had come to view Orson as his Uncle Orson after discovering their true identities.

No wonder he'd felt such a strong connection from the start—it was indeed his Uncle Orson...

It felt like divine intervention; Gideon was taken away, and in his place, Orson was brought into Logan's life.

Yvan felt a peculiar sense of amazement. Here was this boy, his son, who suddenly found himself as the grandson of the Jungle Union. It was an astonishing turn of events, making Hadrian... his father-in-law?

Contemplating this newfound relation, Yvan found it surprisingly unexpected. Logan had suddenly acquired such a significant identity, and adapting to this reality was going to take some getting used to.

They waited by Orson's bedside for a while longer until the effects of the anesthesia began to fade, and Orson slowly started to come around. As he opened his eyes, he could feel his body's sensations returning bit by bit. With the return of his senses came the onslaught of intense pain, a harsh reminder of his ordeal.
