A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 562

"No... No, you're mine. How could you treat me like this for another woman?"

Tears streamed down Rachel's face. "I was a victim too, back then! How could you do this to me?"

Her accusations were relentless, but Yvan just frowned, silent, until Rachel's sobbing ceased. Yvan then signaled Carl to come in.

With a meaningful look, he signaled Carl to wheel Rachel out and take her back home. Rachel fought desperately against the push, her eyes bloodshot. "Yvan! You've changed! How could you betray what we had?"

As Carl pushed Rachel out of the office, the room gradually fell silent.

Yvan didn't utter a word in defense against Rachel's accusations.

Lynn, innocent and straightforward, noticed her father's distress. She looked up at him and asked softly, "Daddy, do you... not love Mommy?"

Yvan sat down, taking Lynn's hand. "Sometimes, 'like' and 'dislike' are words only children use. Adults don't have the luxury of using them anymore."

His only remaining feeling towards Rachel was the guilt over her legs.

As for Matilda, he was willing to spend a lifetime making amends, even if it cost him his life.

"Do you like that lady from the hospital?" Lynn moved closer to Yvan, holding onto his leg, her eyes full of innocence and confusion. "I like her too. If only..."

Lynn choked up a bit, "If only she could be my real mom..."

Hearing this, Lynn lowered her head, murmuring, "No wonder she wasn't happy when she first saw me, because my mom was involved too..."

"You're different from your mom."

Yvan gently ruffled Lynn's hair. "Don't be trapped by love and hate like your mom, trapping yourself and others. I hope you can be free. You know I'm not your biological father, right?"

Lynn nodded timidly, "I know, but Daddy... I like you too. I didn't mean to deceive you..."

"It's okay." Yvan's gaze deepened. "When you find your real father, let him rescue you, take you away from your mommy."

Lynn immediately asked, "You know about my mommy's bad temper? Then why... do you keep her around? You clearly want that lady to be with you, don't you?"
