A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 560

Logan was floored. He'd speculated that R7CKY might have some impressive skeletons in his closet, a hidden ace up his sleeve, but he never imagined the depth of complex stories lurking behind him.

"It's alright."

Suddenly, Logan found peace, a smile breaking across his face. "He's my mentor, and that's never going to change."

Betraying R7CKY? Doubting him? That was out of the question.

Because R7CKY was the kind of guy who, no matter the situation, would be ready to jump into the fray for Logan at a moment's notice.

Their bond was deep and unbreakable.

Yvan saw the resolve in Logan's eyes and couldn't help but smile. Yeah, this was his son, not some ordinary kid.

He was destined to be a force to be reckoned with.

Yvan, moved by a sudden impulse, gently touched Logan's face and whispered, "Don't worry, no matter the mysteries by your side or the traps that lie ahead, just go for it."

He was his trump card.

...

That night, R7CKY received a staggering sum of one million dollars.

Ventus glanced at him, "You couldn't make that much money even if you tried to sell… well, yourself."

R7CKY bristled, "What are you on about? I'll have you know I'm... I'm a heartbreaker, a real catch!"

Ventus, unimpressed, focused on his computer, searching for news on Hadrian, "Yvan sent it, didn't he?"

"Yeah." R7CKY pulled his laptop closer, "Looks like little Logan and his dad have agreed to team up with us to track down Hadrian. That way, we can control the Jungle Union and protect Matilda."

"I once lost to someone when I was eighteen."

R7CKY stood up, "In my life, up to this point, when it comes to hacking, I've only ever lost once, and it was to that person."

He looked earnestly at his friend, "I've never told anyone because it felt like a disgrace. But now, thinking back, there might be someone out there, a presence beyond the seven of us, operating in the shadows."

"Their name in English is NIGHTMARE."

NIGHTMARE - a name as haunting as the vivid tattoo inked on Matilda's waist, a token of a past love, undiminished by time.

And Logan, in the midst of it all, remained unaware of the tumultuous changes swirling around him, of the remarkable true identities of those near him. To an average person, knowing just one of them would be a story to boast about for a lifetime.

The boy's heart was filled with thoughts of his mom, oblivious to the powerful forces that had been supporting him from the shadows.
