A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 533

Logan's confrontation left Declan frozen in place, utterly speechless.

“You want to take Chloe away just because you're angry. But have you thought about how Chloe feels? She's so happy living with us now, and all you can bring her is pain...”

The child's words, innocent and naive, pierced Declan straight in the heart.

For a moment, Declan's face mirrored that of a frightened child.

When Declan left, everyone was too stunned to react. Chloe stared in disbelief as Declan walked away, finding it hard to accept.

The man's dejected expression was that of a bullied animal, yet he was the one who had lashed out first. In the end, it seemed as though they were the ones bullying him.

Matilda swallowed hard, watching Declan disappear from sight. She cautiously asked, “He's gone?”

Chloe and Godfrey looked just as shocked, nodding, “Seems like it.”

“Damn.”

Eugene and Criss cursed in unison. They had been rolling up their sleeves, ready for a fight, but it ended... just like that?

Declan left? With his temperament, he actually walked away?

Chloe, still not fully recovered, nestled in Godfrey's arms, pointed towards the doorway, “Matilda, go check. Maybe... Declan is squatting outside.”

“...” Eugene was speechless for a moment, “You think Declan is that kind of petty guy?”

The look on Chloe's face changed, “He really left?”

Logan playfully remarked, “Chloe, you left a lipstick mark on my face.”

Godfrey’s eyes widened, a little kid challenging him!

Without further ado, seeing Chloe still hesitating, Godfrey pulled her into his arms and kissed her before she could react.

Matilda and Logan were shocked, while Eugene and Criss let out a high-pitched scream!

At that moment, at midnight, dazzling fireworks lit up the sky behind them, illuminating the dreamlike reality. Godfrey kissed Chloe, silencing her protests, as Matilda and Logan covered their eyes.

“Not suitable for children, not suitable for children!”

Eugene and Criss murmured, while Godfrey gazed into Chloe’s wide eyes before finally letting her go. Criss, in a cheeky tone, whistled, “Do it again, do it again!”
