"Alright, let's go then."
Chloe grinned, her eyes crinkling with joy, "Perfect timing for a dinner out, it's on me. Let's celebrate your big turnaround!"
...
However, at this very moment, the atmosphere inside the Boyd Mansion was anything but light.
Opal was shaking with rage, her walking stick pointed directly at Yvan's face. Age had caught up with her, and extreme anger always triggered physical discomfort, like the sudden blackout she had just experienced. Upon waking, her first demand was to see Yvan.
Yvan stood in the downstairs living room, dressed in a suit, his gaze lowered, an indifferent expression on his face.
It seemed as though he felt nothing unusual about his shocking actions the previous night, maintaining his silence, not uttering a word.
Opal, struggling to speak smoothly in her fury, pointed at Yvan's face, "Yvan, look at what you've done!"
Yvan remained silent.
Opal was beyond furious, grabbing something nearby and hurling it to the ground. Yvan, hearing the noise, merely said quietly, "Grandma, please, getting angry is bad for your health."
He had the audacity to say that!
Opal felt like she was about to be the death of her! How could the Boyd family have produced such a rebellious grandson!
Her gaze was fierce, full of disappointment, "Yvan, do you realize how much shame you've brought upon our family?"
What he owed Matilda had to be repaid, not simply brushed aside with “it's bad for the Boyd family's image.”
"Making a mistake means owning up to it." Yvan, ignoring Opal's increasingly ugly expression, remained cold, "That's what I owe her."
Over and over, what does he owe her? Just because she spent a few years in jail? If it had been longer, would she be allowed to turn the world upside down?
Opal clearly didn’t take Matilda's wrongful imprisonment seriously, her concern was only for the Boyd family's reputation and interests. What did Matilda's suffering matter to her? Why didn’t she declare her innocence back then? She deserved to be misunderstood and wronged!
The lady of the house shook her walking stick forcefully, "Yvan, tell Grandma, have you fallen for that woman? Has she bewitched you?"
"If I had known it would come to this, I would have preferred she stayed in jail for life, rotting away!" Opal's harsh words roared, her fury fueled by Yvan's silence.
