A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 502

A daring journalist took the lead, asking, "Mr. Boyd, what's your take on the buzz that's been going around these days?"

Passersby had already begun to pull out their smartphones to capture the moment.

Yvan looked at the journalist for a long while, the man silent, his dark pupils like precious obsidian. Standing next to him was his father, Noel, known in the business world for his thunderous strategies. Facing the media, neither of the two showed any signs of fear.

After a chilling silence, Yvan finally spoke.

He said, "I have nothing to say."

The crowd was stunned.

"What I mean is, regarding that matter, the truth of the past, the wrongful accusation of Matilda, all these series of events..." Yvan paused for a moment, "I have nothing to say. I have no excuses for myself."

Matilda, watching from in front of the television, was taken aback.

At that moment, her soul shattered into pieces.

Was this man, dissecting himself on television... really the Yvan she knew?

Facing the camera, his expression was unmistakably cold and ruthless, yet Matilda saw in his eyes a tragic collapse of his spirit, grand and tumultuous... like a blizzard devastating all in its path.

Yet now, seeing Yvan stand before the camera, laying everything out, she was finally moved. In his eyes... she saw a determination she had never seen before.

"I've discussed with my father for a long time whether to hold this press conference. He said that nowadays, with the internet, truths and lies spread like wildfire, becoming distorted as they are passed along. It was because of this that I made a mistake back then. So now, it's time to own up in this way," Yvan elaborated.

Yvan had spoken at length, perhaps a speech he had rehearsed many times in his heart.

He closed his eyes, then reopened them, facing the microphone, "Yes, five years ago, I wronged Matilda, and then had her sent to prison. I thought Rachel had died, and Matilda was responsible, because I witnessed that moment. But sometimes, even our eyes can deceive us. Some actions are misconstrued by our subconscious as malicious. Later on, I found out that my then-wife, Matilda, hadn't pushed Rachel. Actually, she had reached out to save her."

The room fell into silence, with some already covering their mouths in shock.
