Yvan felt a sharp pang in his heart, as if struck by a sudden blow, his heart tightening. "Who are you talking about?"
"Yvan, she... she is our daughter from all those years ago... She really is our daughter..."
Rachel, sitting in her wheelchair, looked visibly panicked, clutching her daughter's hand. "I didn't mean to keep it from you. I was afraid you wouldn't accept her..."
The same excuse as before.
Yvan looked at Rachel, then turned away. After a moment, he said, "Come in."
A smile spread across Rachel's face as the servant wheeled her into Yvan's mansion, a place she had never been before. She had heard rumors about Yvan bringing a woman here for a night, and the thought ignited a wild jealousy within her.
That woman was Matilda.
But it didn't matter now. She was back, and everything was still in her control. Rachel reassured herself not to panic. Matilda was no threat...
"What's your name?" Yvan asked, leading them into the mansion and turning to face the girl behind him. The young girl answered timidly, "Lynn Boyd..."
Yvan remained silent for a moment before saying, "You'll stay here tonight. Tomorrow, we're going to the hospital."
Rachel's face paled at the mention of the hospital. "The hospital? Why all of a sudden?"
"We need to do a DNA test."
...
Matilda had recently made a discreet trip back home for Luna's birthday, having been invited to celebrate together. It had been a while since she had caught up with old friends, so she and Criss made a low-key return, landing in Sea City. Luna, with her brother's formidable special forces vehicle, was waiting in the parking lot, a sight so imposing that passersby might have mistaken it for the return of a heroic legacy.
As Matilda alighted from the vehicle, Luna waved at her. "Hey! You finally decided to come back! It's almost Christmas!"
"Yeah," Matilda replied with a smile, handing Luna a lingerie set she had bought abroad as a birthday gift. "Here, happy birthday."
"Wow, lingerie! I love it! But, are you sure it's my size? I'm not as busty as Hala, you know."
Luna joked like one of the guys, while Logan, standing beside Matilda, chuckled. "I had my birthday a while back too. If I'd known Luna's was coming up, we could've celebrated together."
