99 Bloody Lashes And A Bullet To His Hear novel Chapter 89

As I brushed past Joey, I caught a glimpse of the astonishment and anxiety in his eyes.

But what was he so astonished about?

Didn’t he want to acknowledge our relationship?

I pushed my shopping cart forward, but I could feel his gaze following me.

Until Stacy’s cry of pain came: “Joey, my stomach hurts a bit.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take you to the hospital!”

In the next moment, I realized that gaze was gone.

I turned my head and saw that Joey and Stacy had disappeared, leaving only the abandoned shopping cart, just like me, ignored and left behind.

I gave a self–mocking smile and pushed my cart to check out, then carried the two heavy bags into the night and hailed a taxi.

When I got home, I prepared three dishes and a soup and put them on the table.

Maybe eating alone was too lonely, because I lost my appetite after just a few bites. I felt cold and hot all over, as if I had a cold.

I put down my chopsticks and went to my room to sleep.

Half–asleep, Joey came back.

His cold, dry hand touched my forehead: “Why do you have a fever?”

His gentle and affectionate voice made me dazed for a moment, and I instinctively grabbed his sleeve.

“You’re back. Weren’t you supposed to be with Stacy at the hospital?”

Joey took out antipyretics from the medicine box in the bedroom and poured me a glass of warm water, feeding it to my lips: “I just sent her over. I wasn’t accompanying her.”

“Be a good girl and take the medicine, and you won’t feel so bad.”

Perhaps influenced by his care and pampering, I rarely showed weakness: “No, I don’t want to take the medicine.”

I was pregnant and couldn’t take medicine casually.

I instinctively touched my stomach, thinking that if Joey asked me why I didn’t want to take it, I was about to confess to him that we already had a little baby on the way.

I don’t know if it was because he ignored me on purpose or for some other reason.

But Joey just turned cold, pulled his hand out of mine, and placed the medicine on the bedside table. “As a doctor, you should understand better than anyone what it means to refuse medical treatment.”

In just one sentence, he shattered the little hope I had left.

I really wanted to ask Joey if he was this indifferent to Stacy too.

But in the end, I just gave a bitter smile and said, “Joey, I don’t need you to teach me how to be a doctor.”

I had always been gentle and never talked back to Joey like this before.

Joey stood there for a long time, then seemed to come to his senses: “Are you upset that I didn’t accompany you to dinner today?”

My throat was blocked, and the words were still in

my

throat.

Joey’s phone rang.

[What to do if morning sickness is severe?]

Chapter 3

When I woke up again, I looked at the dim light outside and felt a bit dazed.

There was only that cold medicine by my pillow; Joey was gone.

I glanced at my phone.

At five in the morning, Stacy had posted a status update: [When I need you the most, you’re always by my side.]

In the photo, Stacy was leaning against Joey’s shoulder, getting an IV at the hospital, her eyes shining with happiness and pride.

I looked around the room, feeling lonely and isolated, the complete opposite of Stacy.

My eyes welled up with tears again.

If he couldn’t let go of Stacy, then why did Joey even marry me?

Was it just to prove that he could divide his time and love between two people?

I closed my aching eyes, not wanting to see anymore.

At that moment, I received a text from the hospital, asking if I was available for an abortion procedure the next day.

My heart tightened abruptly. In order not to affect work, I directly asked for two days off from the hospital.

Then, with trembling hands, I replied, “Yes.”

After replying, I scheduled an appointment at the Court to get the divorce certificate and booked a flight on Google Flights.

The destination was Paris.

The date was the day after I received the divorce certificate.
