No More Layovers for a Love That Won't Land novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

“No need to trouble yourself.”

When Freya heard that, she understood that Isabella was likely on a video call with Raven and

Matteo.

That meant Matteo was probably having a meal with Raven right now.

She spoke in a soft tone, “It’s okay, let them chat. Don’t disturb them.”

After hanging up, Freya sent a message to Isabella, asking how her day was at school, if she had made any new friends, what she had for lunch, and reminding her to listen to the teacher and take a nap when the time came.

Over ten minutes later, Freya finally received a voice message from Isabella.

“I know, Mom. I’ll take a good nap.”

In the afternoon, after spending the whole day with Sherry, Freya found her personality to be lively,

sociable, and quite capable at work.

By 6 PM, just as Freya was about to leave for home, Sherry came over, saying she wanted to invite her to dinner as a thank–you for today’s guidance.

“This is part of my job. You don’t need to be so polite, Sherry,” Freya said.

Sherry tried to insist, but just then, Freya’s phone rang.

It was a call from her mother–in–law, Stella.

Freya glanced at the screen in surprise. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

Stella had never been fond of her as a daughter–in–law, and usually, she ignored her. Over the years, Freya could count on one hand the number of times Stella had contacted her.

Freya picked up the phone, puzzled, “Mom?”

“York has secretly been racing cars lately, and I’m worried about him. I’ll send you the address, go and bring him back,” Stella said briskly without any extra words, then hung up.

A few seconds later, an address arrived on Freya’s phone.

Looking at it, Freya saw that it was an address for an outdoor race track.

She turned to Sherry and said, “Sorry, I have an urgent matter to attend to. I need to leave now.”

More than an hour later, Freyai finally arrived at the destination.

The race track was large, and there were still quite a few people around despite it being late. It was loud and chaotic.
