Chapter 153
Then Matteo’s younger brother, Yancy’s voice came from outside:
“Sister–in–law, I heard you were sick. Are you feeling better now?”
Matteo hadn’t spoken yet when Matteo interjected, “Come in.”
The door had been left open earlier as people had been coming and going from the room.
Hearing Matteo’s voice, Yancy walked in from outside, first greeting Matteo, “Brother.”
Matteo responded with a simple, “Hmm.”
Yancy’s gaze then fell on Freya. Though the two hadn’t interacted much, he knew she wasn’t entirely sure how to engage with him. Freya took the initiative, saying, “I’m feeling much better now.”
Yancy scratched his head awkwardly, “Oh, that’s… good to hear.”
Freya smiled gently. “Hav
you not been back here for a while?”
“Yeah… I missed the food here, so I came back for a bit. As soon as I got back, Grandma mentioned you were running
a fever.”
At this moment, Grandma Wilson came upstairs. Seeing that Freya’s complexion had improved, she seemed more at ease. “The kitchen’s finished preparing the soup.
Mr. Stanley said you can have some now. Would you prefer to come downstairs and have it, or should Matteo bring it up to you?”
Freya hadn’t eaten much earlier and didn’t have much of an appetite. Feeling a little stifled staying in her room, she decided to join Grandma Wilson and the others downstairs.
Once downstairs, Yancy asked, “Where’s Isabella?”
Grandma Wilson replied, “She ate a little earlier but couldn’t drink much. I’ll have her drink a bit more later.”
After sitting down, Freya accepted the soup the butler handed her and began sipping it slowly, cooling it with gentle breaths.
Matteo sat next to her, but his phone buzzed with a message. Perhaps trying to prevent her from seeing the screen, he shifted slightly away and began replying to the message.
Freya noticed but said nothing, continuing to drink her soup quietly.

Grandma Wilson frowned, “Can’t it wait until after the soup?”
“It’ll just take a minute,” Matteo replied.
The bowl of soup was quickly finished.
“Would you like some more?” Grandma Wilson asked.
Freya shook her head and stood up. “No, thank you. I’m full.”
Even though Matteo had slightly turned away, as she rose, Freya caught a glimpse of his phone screen. He seemed to be texting Raven, discussing some project matters.
Sensing that she might have noticed, Matteo moved further away.
Freya, however, had already withdrawn her gaze, walking to the living room and picking up a newspaper to read.
A short while later, Yancy came over with a plate of freshly washed fruit, offering her some.
Freya looked up. “No, thank you. You can have it.”
Looking up, she saw that Matteo had already left the dining room, his phone still in hand, as he made his way upstairs. She withdrew her gaze again.
Yancy sat down next to her and glanced at her a couple of times. Noticing this, Freya asked, “What is it?”
“Well, my brain isn’t as sharp as you or my brother’s when it comes to studying, you know? I’ve got a few physics problems I can’t solve…”
Freya blinked, but before she could respond, Yancy continued, “I wanted to ask my brother for help, but he said he was busy and told me to ask you instead.”
Freya paused for a moment, then took his test papers without a word.
Yancy was a decent student with a solid foundation. After Freya looked over his papers and explained the thought process for a few problems, he quickly understood.
“Wow, you’re amazing, sister–in–law! Thank you!”
After understanding the problems, Yancy haphazardly gathered his papers and pens, exclaiming, “Finally, I can play on my phone!”
Freya chuckled softly, setting aside the newspaper she had nearly finished. Feeling a bit more refreshed, she thought about heading upstairs to grab a book to pass the time.
Yancy leaned over, whispering, “Sister–in–law, my idol participated in another car race recently. She was even cooler this time! I’ve got the video. Want to watch?”

Freya froze for a moment, her smile fading slightly. “No, thanks. I’m not really into car racing.”
“Really?” Yancy looked surprised, thinking she’d be interested. “But that day, you were watching with binoculars for so long. I thought you liked it too…”
Freya replied calmly, “I saw a few acquaintances that day.”
“Oh…” Seeing her lack of interest, Yancy didn’t push it. He turned back to rewatch Raven’s race footage. “I really miss her. She didn’t participate in this race, and who knows when I’ll see her again, sigh…”
