The coldness in his eyes was absolute, Whatever lingering affection he might have felt for her had completely evaporated.
Now he felt nothing but revulsion. He’d bent over backward for her, continuously hurting Freya in the process
Jasper’s knuckles went white, his expression ice cold, making Mia shrink back. She’d never seen this version of him before. He’d always catered to her every whim–this had to be Freya’s doing!
The hatred in Mia’s eyes was unmistakable. She looked like she wanted to claw Freya’s eyes out, and Jasper caught it.
He hated himself for only now seeing Mia’s true colors, for letting Freya endure so much unnecessary pain.
A chilling smile crossed his face, making Mia’s blood run cold.
“Time for some karma.”
He grabbed Mia’s arm and started dragging her toward the door. His rage terrified her. Dignity forgotten, she struggled frantically, but couldn’t break his iron grip.
He hauled her outside where security was waiting
“Since you love making people kneel, you can spend the night on your knees.”
He instructed security to watch her, completely deaf to her sobbing as he walked away.
His mind was consumed with thoughts of Freya. Now that he’d admitted his feelings, he realized how spectacularly he’d screwed up.
During their four years together, he’d grown dependent on her without ever acknowledging it. He’d had to lose her completely before recognizing what she meant to him.
In his car, he slammed his fist against the steering wheel, then frantically began ripping out all of Mia’s cutesy decorations–all the stuff Freya had silently tolerated.
The plushies, the pink seat covers, the snacks he’d stocked for Mia–he threw it all out the window. But no matter what he did, the car no longer held any traces of his time with Freya.
They’d had sex in this car countless times, yet not even a lipstick mark remained.
In that moment, Jasper understood true heartbreak. Unable to contain his rage, he trashed his car until it was undrivable, then took another vehicle back to his penthouse.
