The small park had fewer visitors today due to the cloudy weather.
After wandering around for a while, Mia didn't come across Sam and Tina, leaving her disappointed.
"I wonder how Herbert is doing," Mia muttered while returning from feeding Chubby. As she walked past the road where she had seen the Golden Retriever the previous night, she couldn't help but take a quick look.
Byron noticed the worry in Mia's eyes and reached out, placing his hand gently on her head, saying, "Mia, don't worry. Perhaps we'll run into Herbert when we return this afternoon."
Despite the attempt to cheer her up, Mia remained dispirited.
After returning home, Byron was concerned that Mia might be unwell and asked Alice to check her temperature.
The results showed that her temperature was average.
"Mr. Crawford, you don't need to worry about Miss Mia Newton's health. Her recent medical report from a few days ago confirms she's in excellent health, and the hospital director even said Miss Mia Newton is as healthy as a little bull," Alice assured him.
Although Byron found the comparison slightly odd, he was relieved knowing Mia was healthy.
Since it was recently confirmed that Aiden and Mia would be attending school in Mailand, Aiden had no problems with the arrangement. However, Mia needed to take some preschool courses. Otherwise, she might struggle to keep up with her studies back home.
Part of these preschool courses were conducted online.
Mia was whisked away to the study by Rose as soon as she arrived home, where she had to attend her online classes.
Byron then went to check on Aiden. He saw that Aiden was occupied, helping Logan with a software project. Byron didn't want to disturb them and went downstairs.
Right after settling down on the sofa, he received a text notification.
The message contained a contact number and stated: [Mr. Crawford, we have located the phone number you were searching for. It belongs to Sam Ziegler. To save the number, press the contact button below.]
Byron stood up and went outside to dial the number.
After a few rings, the person on the other end finally answered. An elderly voice asked, "Who's this?"
Running out of the study, Mia hurried to the entrance and opened the door standing on her tiptoes. She immediately spotted Sam and Tina walking in with their golden retriever, Herbert, on a leash.
"Sam, Tina!" Mia exclaimed with pure delight, practically leaping down the steps.
Byron watched nervously, cautioning. "Mia, be careful!"
Mia hurriedly ran to Herbert and hugged its furry neck tightly, saying, "I'm so glad you're okay!"
Mia didn't mention that she had a terrible nightmare last night, where she saw Herbert being violently attacked and left with a profusely bleeding head.
"Mia, dear, how could Herbert be in any trouble?" Tina chuckled.
Byron smiled faintly and explained, "I didn't get a chance to mention it on the phone earlier. Last night, Mia saw Herbert in the neighborhood, but it wasn't you both walking him."
"Last night?" Tina suddenly realized. "Oh, that was my granddaughter. She's been studying abroad and only returned a couple of months ago. She thought we might feel lonely, so she moved in to live with us."
