"I was worried about you," Evie said, holding Athena's arm. "Lola brought this upon herself. It's karma!"
Athena didn't respond.
Evie didn't go back that night and slept in the lounge.
Exhausted from the day, she barely spoke a few words with Athena before falling asleep.
Aron couldn't contact Evie, so he called Athena instead.
Athena learned from the call that Aron had headed to where Evie had her business trip since he had no idea she had returned.
"She was worried about me, so she drove back here for me," Athena chuckled wryly. "She must have been exhausted. She dozed off as soon as she lay down."
"Oh, is that so? Okay, I'm glad she's with you," Aron replied, sighing with relief.
"Evie hasn't quite settled into the role of being your wife. Just give her some time to adjust," Athena advised.
"I understand," Aron replied. "By the way, how's Byron?"
"He's fine, he just had a headache for a bit, but he's already gone to sleep," Athena responded.
"That's good to hear. Athena, if you need help, just let me know, okay?" Aron offered.
"Don't worry, I won't hesitate to ask for your help," Athena assured him before ending the call.
Athena then let out a long sigh.
Lola had passed away.
She couldn't stop thinking about it and couldn't fall asleep.
In frustration, Athena headed out to the hospital room's small balcony and absentmindedly scrolled through her phone.
The post exposing Lola's actions had been swiftly reposted from the anonymous forum to Twitter and short video apps by marketing accounts.
As expected, the comments section was filled with netizens expressing their shock and disbelief.
[Can you believe it? He has a mother, yet his life is still worse off than mine, who doesn't have one. How tragic is that?]
Logan had always been like a rebellious kid, quick-witted with his words, but beneath that tough exterior, he was indeed kind-hearted.
During the day, he hated Byron, itching to get back at him, but now, seeing his miserable state, he was willing to be kind to him.
Athena replied: [If you feel sorry for him, you should stop badmouthing him in front of Aiden.]
Logan stared at Athena's reply and was rendered speechless.
He then messaged back: [Goodnight!]
Athena could almost picture how Logan forcefully pushed the keyboard away.
She was about to leave when the door to the small balcony swung open.
Athena then turned around and saw Byron. She smiled gently, pretending to be surprised. "Ah, you found me."
