A row of cars stopped in front of the graveyard. Alice walked down with her head lowered, and a few Photo Frame in her hands. William walked down from the other side with a bunch of flowers. He looked at the entrance of the graveyard emotionless.
Even the wind in the cemetery was solemn and forlorn.
Alice walked inside. The bodyguard took the lead and ran inside, kicking all the branches to the side and clearing a path.
"202."
A bodyguard reminded Alice.
"Thank you."
Alice nodded and looked at the number plate. She easily found the tombstone that belonged to Mary. Mary was smiling from the photo on the tombstone.
A smile that she hadn't seen for a long time.
"Mary, I'm here to see you."
Alice looked at Mary's photo and smiled. She was about to place the Photo Frame in front of the tombstone, but she was surprised to see a bunch of flowers was already there.
The flower seemed to have been blooming for several days. Its petals were already somewhat withered, and it even had traces of being hit by the rain.
Alice was stunned, "How can there be flowers?"
William stood by her side, lowered his eyes and swept across, then said indifferently, "Someone has paid her a visit."
"But no one knew that the Mary's monolith is here." Alice said in surprise, "There's no way someone would come to visit her. Could it be bowed from other monuments by wind?"
William looked at her, then slowly bent down and picked up a square flat rock from the flower bundle. "Sorry, your guess was wrong."
In order to prevent the flowers from being blown away, the people who came to pay their respects even pressed a stone down, leaving marks behind.
Alice stood there in a daze, lowered her eyes and looked at the bunch of flowers, "Who could have come? Adoptive parents? Patrick?
Did they come back?
Had the adoptive parents already heard the news of Mary's death? Or did Patrick come back?
"I don't know."
William's gaze turned a little colder.
Patrick is back?
She frowned and looked at the difference between this tombstone and the other tombstones. It was clear that this tombstone had only been cleaned recently, that it did not have a single bit of moss on it.
Who could it be?
It was definitely could not be the relatives of the Clyne family. As the news of Mary's death had not been made public, so obviously it couldn't be a fan.
Adoptive parents? Hadn't heard from them for a long time. But if they came back, they would probably stay at the old house.
There was only one possibility left.
Patrick.
He's back.
He came back and at least meant he was safe.
Alice thought, and turned to look at William, only to see him coldly staring at the tombstone. He pursed his lips. And after a moment, he raised his hands.
A bodyguard immediately came forward, "What can I do for you, Mr. Cullen?"
"Go and find out if Patrick is back."
William said coldly.
"Yes, Mr. Cullen."
The bodyguard withdrew.
Looking at his grave and stern face, Alice couldn't help but say, "There's no need to investigate. It's his freedom whether he comes back or not."
"What? Afraid that I'll kick his ass?"
William scoffed, his tone was as sour as it could get.
"If you wanted to kick him, you would have already done." Alice understood William too well. She turned and looked at him, teasing him, "Are you afraid that he will come find me?"
William who was exposed stared at her coldly: "Am I such an unconfident person to you?"
Who did she think he is?
And who cared about Miller? How funny.
Alice laughed, and shrugged her shoulders, as if she was saying whatever you say.
"Alice!"
William glared at her angrily.
Alice didn't reply to his words. Instead, she turned and looked at the tombstone in front of her, smiled, and asked gently, "Mary, did Patrick come back? Then you must be very happy."
Looking her talking to that dead person, William frowned. He stared at that bunch of flowers feeling weird.
"I haven't told our parents about you, and I haven't gone to look for them either. I think it's better if they don't know about you, right? At the very least, they will still think that you are alive, then they will be able to live happier. "Alice said softly, then said, "I've gone back to visit the old house. There was nothing left. However, I can still find the memories of our childhood."
She remembered that when she was young, she had climbed down from upstairs while holding the vine. Mary had also climbed down after taking the vine along with her but smashed into the ground a little.
Back then, they were still young and naive. They didn't understand the favoritism of adults. Actually, they had some happy times.
"That old vine is still here, but you won't be able to climb any further. If you continue climbing, you will definitely fall."
