Married at First Sight (Serenity and Zachary) novel Chapter 4540

Married at First Sight [On-Going]

Chapter 4540
Romina didn’t wake until nearly noon the next day—her hunger finally dragging her out of sleep.
She’d drunk so much the night before but barely eaten a thing. That empty stomach might’ve been the reason she got so drunk. Now that she was well-rested, she wasn’t even hungover— just a little sore, but nothing she couldn’t handle.
Realizing she was still in last night’s evening dress, Romina made her way to the bathroom, took a hot shower, changed clothes, and slowly walked downstairs.
But even before she reached the bottom step, she noticed something strange.
Her parents, her brothers, and her grandfather were all sitting in the living room. No one was speaking. The whole house felt tense and quiet.
Why wasn’t anyone talking?
Then she spotted River—in her house. And not just him—Serenity was there too.
The living room was stacked with gift boxes, all decorated with bright red wedding symbols.
Wedding symbols?
Were they preparing for a wedding?
Which of her siblings was getting engaged?
As soon as they heard her footsteps, everyone looked up at once.
Romina, sensing the weird tension, made her way down under everyone’s gaze and walked over.
She glanced at River, did a double take, and burst into laughter.
“River, what happened to you last night? Your face and neck are covered in lipstick. Must’ve been a lucky night for you, huh?”
Everyone just stared at her in stunned silence.
At the same time, they cursed River silently.
He left those lipstick marks on purpose.
River hadn’t even bothered to wash his face after going home last night—he kept the “evidence” clear as day. He even brought along the suit she’d spilled wine on.
If he was going to complain, he was going all in.
Serenity had to fight back a laugh when she looked at Romina.
She hadn’t known about any of this until River came downstairs an hour ago and filled her in.
Then, he asked the butler to prepare an engagement gift set—complete with large red wedding stickers—and had Serenity accompany him to the Lafond house to “propose.”
River claimed Romina had taken advantage of him and should now take responsibility.
Of course, the so-called bride price he prepared in an hour was laughably light. It wasn’t a real proposal—he just wanted to mess with Romina.
And Serenity was more than happy to tag along and watch the drama unfold.
Since this was such a juicy scene, she left the kids at home with the nanny and canceled today’s plans.
After all, this kind of entertainment didn’t happen every day.
Romina looked around the room, uneasy under everyone’s stares.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” she asked, finally unsettled.
She sat down next to Donovan and whispered, “Brother, what’s going on? Why are River and Sister Seren here? Why is everyone staring at me?”
She tried to think back. Did she cause some trouble last night?
Maybe it was because she splashed wine on River and kicked him?
Ugh, is he really that petty?
“Romina!”
Her grandfather finally broke the silence with a heavy sigh. “Don’t you remember anything you did to River last night?”

“Grandpa, I… Wait—Grandpa, you’re not seriously saying I’m the one who left all that lipstick on his face and neck, are you?” Romina asked, looking horrified.
She genuinely had no memory of what happened after she got drunk.
