How a Dying Woman Rewrote Her Epilogue novel Chapter 690

The entire team moved in a steady stream behind Jarrod’s lead.

No one stopped for formal greetings.

Elodie wasn’t surprised; this was exactly what she expected under the circumstances.

She hadn’t seen Jarrod since he left the hospital a while back.

Jeremiah, on the other hand, didn’t seem to notice anything amiss. “Mr. Silverstein’s probably swamped,” he said casually. “He was out of the country for a bit—just got back today.”

Elodie nodded slowly.

No wonder he’d vanished.

But honestly, even if he hadn’t left the country, they wouldn’t have crossed paths.

After what happened with the child, there was no chance for them to connect again.

She understood perfectly well what Jarrod meant that day in the hospital, when he said he’d wait for her to finish the 719 project and would cooperate with her.

He was hurt. He believed she’d ended the pregnancy before he returned on purpose, that she’d rejected their child—and he resented her for it.

So this was how it ended.

It was only reasonable for him to feel that way.

There would be no more entanglements between them.

She was someone who couldn’t even say for sure what the future held for herself—would she heal, or fail, or relapse? With so much uncertainty, how could she muster the energy to convince him to believe in her?

She didn’t even have any proof to back herself up.

“You two haven’t made up yet?” Lily tilted her head, puzzled.

Elodie ignored the question, turning instead to Jeremiah. “We’ll need to run more rounds of testing—probably two more after this. Please make sure your team cooperates with the review and avoids any errors.”

Jeremiah grinned. “Don’t worry, ma’am. This is crucial for your future work, and Mr. Silverstein’s personally keeping an eye on everything.”

Elodie paused briefly, but in the end, she led Lily inside and began assigning work.

The materials involved complex data that Elodie would need to analyze and report on later.

Every so often, she’d turn to Lily with instructions. “I’ll dictate, you take notes and email it all to me.”

Lily listened, trying to keep up with the stream of unfamiliar numbers. “What do these figures even mean?”
