How a Dying Woman Rewrote Her Epilogue novel Chapter 659

At Malcom’s words, a sharp gleam flickered in his eyes. For the longest time, he’d assumed Jarrod felt absolutely nothing for Elodie as a wife. But with everything that had happened recently, he was starting to reconsider. If that were really true, Jarrod wouldn’t be entertaining the idea of helping her at all.

Still…

Bringing up the matter of funding out of nowhere probably wasn’t wise.

“Jarrod, I appreciate how you’re thinking. Elodie is lucky to have you in her life.” Malcom managed a polite smile. “But lately, the Harcourt family has been facing some… issues of our own.”

Jarrod nodded slowly. “Are you aware of an overseas investment project in Havenbrook? The Silverstein Group has reviewed it—future returns look solid and reliable. If you’re interested, I could help make the introductions.”

Malcom immediately sat up straighter. He knew full well that if Jarrod thought a project was worthwhile, it had to be the best of the best. “Would that be too much trouble for you?”

“Not at all,” Jarrod replied, unhurried, his gaze steady. “That’s what family connections are for. However…”

Malcom tensed up at once, unable to bear suspense. “Is there a problem?”

Jarrod lowered his eyes, calmly pouring more tea, but said nothing.

That’s when Andrea finally glanced at Jarrod and jumped in, “President Harcourt, you might not know, but that project is highly sought after. There are a lot of investors vying for it. The investment minimums and company qualifications are rather strict—and at the moment, your firm just doesn’t quite measure up.”

Malcom’s expression shifted, a hint of desperation in his voice. “Even with Jarrod’s support, there’s no way to make an exception?”

Andrea smiled, her tone diplomatic. “President Harcourt, it’s a foreign company. Their rules and protocols are complex—it’s not just a matter of putting in a good word. Opportunities are limited. Maybe you could look into expanding your company’s scale or resources.”

Expand? Malcom hesitated.

It seemed the only way was to take out loans to grow their business.

But right now, the Harcourt Group didn’t have the capital to pull that off.

Jarrod didn’t even look up, idly tracing the rim of his cup. “Caution is wise, President Harcourt, but in the venture capital world, those who lack courage and boldness rarely achieve great things. Opportunities like this don’t come often. If you think it’s too difficult, you can always wait for another chance down the line.”

His meaning was clear—he wasn’t going to push or offer more help.

Malcom was left at an impasse.

Andrea added, “There are multiple parties scrambling for this project behind the scenes. Once it’s up and running, it’ll generate profits in the tens of millions, so the bar is set high.”

Malcom grew even more uncertain.
