His Reluctant Luna novel Chapter 92

Alice

I realized I had never actually been inside Samantha's home. It was tastefully decorated with several artefacts which looked like 100s of years old. It was like entering Ripley's believe it or not museum without the morbid stuff like mummies or shrinking skulls. I sank into the plush chaise and Samantha sat opposite to me.

"So, how much do you know about the obsidian prophesy?" Samantha asked, folding her hands daintily in her lap.

"I did some research about it back in my pack's archive. It says that a hybrid will mate with an Alpha. They will have a compelling child who would bring peace and prosperity for the shape-shifters."

"That is correct. Are you assuming that witch hybrid might be you?"

"Mmm yes. "

"You are not the only one. Many people had this assumption when they were born. Hence, the war, as you are aware. You already possess the rare hybrid blood, mating with you would also produce a powerful heir. Hence, the scramble to claim you." Samantha said, shaking her head disapprovingly.

My eyes widened," So the prophecy is true?"

"We can't find out until you have the baby." Samantha chuckled.

"Seriously ?" I pouted.

"Just kidding," Samantha laughed.

"We have a legend of our creation. Our kind was cursed by Zeus. He cursed king Lycaon and his sons to turn into the first werewolves. Goddess Luna pitied us, she blessed us to become a perfect blending of animal and human, having dual character but existing in harmony in one body and a single soul. Each pack was given an Alpha who would lead on behalf of Luna. Believing that we would be able to exist in peace together, she left the Alphas to rule as they saw fit. Soon enough, petty jealousy and power struggles ensued. Peace was finally shattered when we allowed our animal sides to take charge and began raiding, pillaging, and warring among one another. Luna was greatly saddened at the state of her children, so for a while, she turned her back on us."

"So what happened then? I know that things are a lot better now, Alphas work together and there is a minimum conflict."

My curiosity piqued.

"Yes, Luna kept sending strong Alphas to keep us in check. Each of the prophesied Alpha is sent by Goddess Luna herself. We oracles receive her message and identify that special child."

"These Alphas wisely kept their promise to Luna. They ruled with wisdom and seeked peace. Not all shifters wanted to continually fight and kill. Our numbers were dwindling because of our constant warring, so some shifters actively sought peace to prevent the extinction of their breed."

"Okay, that explains the peace between packs now. But what about the obsidian prophesy ?" I asked.

"There is a backstory behind it. About several hundred years ago, during the dark ages. Humans were hunting witches, werewolves, vampires, it was a bad time. A witch was saved by an Alpha from being thrown into a volcano by the humans. She was so grateful that she promised that her linage would always serve the Alpha and his successors. Hence, some witches are traditionally very friendly to us. As they believe they descended from that first witch. Now, Luna is not just worshipped by wolves, she is the patron Goddess of all shifters and even witches. She was probably happy with this interspecies coalition. So, an oracle received a vision that her descendants would mate with an Alpha, give birth to a hybrid whose child would be the most powerful Alpha and start a reign of peace."

"Why is it called the obsidian prophecy?"

"Obsidian is a volcanic crystal. Formed from the volcanic lava. It's a forceful protective stone and a shield against negativity. It blocks psychic attacks and absorbs negative energies from the environment. The witch had gifted him an obsidian crystal from that volcano as a symbol of her loyalty and gratitude. She promised she would always shield him like a stone. Hence, the name obsidian prophesy."

"That's very poetic," I commented. This whole legend was fascinating.

"Then what happened?"
