Goodbye, Mr. Regret novel Chapter 152

Quick wit and a sharp tongue were never Jessica's strengths.

Sign language only worked for people who understood it, and even then, it couldn't fully convey her emotions. So, arguing was pointless for her. She could never win.

When she accused Sheila of faking it, neither father nor son believed her. They even argued back. She had no voice; no matter how skillfully her hands moved, it didn't matter.

Would she just give up and stop trying?

Timothy's expression barely shifted, except for a cold smirk. "Didn't you have plenty to say a moment ago? What, no more gestures now?"

A trace of mocking amusement flickered at the corner of Jessica's lips.

Timothy's eyes darkened. "If you've got any pride left, don't come looking for me again. If you have nothing to say, then get out of the way."

He was attacking the Wheeler Group, deliberately forcing her to seek him out—yet now he was provoking her, acting as if she were the nuisance.

Suddenly, a sharp pain twisted in Jessica's abdomen.

Instinctively, she clutched her stomach, nearly losing her balance. In less than twenty seconds, beads of sweat broke out on her forehead.

That's cancer for you. When it hurt, it was excruciating.

"Mom, are you okay?" Henry asked, seeing the pain etched on her face. After all, she was his birth mother, and there was no real grudge between them. He just needed someone to play the role of his mom in public, so no one would realize she was mute.

"What else could it be? She's just pretending to be sick to stop us," Timothy said coldly, his striking eyes like a winter frost. He glared at Jessica. "Using such pathetic tricks, and you accuse Sheila of faking it? Jessica, when did you become so unreasonable?"

Henry pouted, sounding annoyed. "Mom, how could you do this? Move, please. Don't keep Dad from taking Miss Sheila to the hospital."

Jessica's heart turned to ice.

She had poured her heart and soul into caring for this father and son for seven years. If they'd ever paid her even a little attention, they would have known she was truly ill—seriously ill. Cancer.
