When Maria took on this job, she already knew that it wouldn’t be a simple one, so she was mentally prepared for it from the beginning. She promptly started cleaning up the house.
Ethan knew that he should leave too. He hadn’t expected them to track this place down so soon, so he couldn’t bring Tiffany with him. Even so, perhaps they both needed some time apart to ease the tension between them.
He went to the bedroom and hesitated at the door for a moment before pushing it open. Tiffany seemed to be asleep inside the bedroom, but she actually wasn’t. Such a petty trick wasn’t going to fool him. He knew that she just didn’t want to face him. Even so, he didn’t expose her. Ethan went to the bed and whispered, “I have the video, I believe you know what you should or shouldn’t do when you leave here.” After saying that, he stared at her deeply then turned around and closed the door.
Maria cleaned up every single spot that might possibly have fingerprints left on it and removed every single strand of hair in the house. By the time she was done cleaning, she was panting heavily in exhaustion. “Sir, I’m done cleaning up. We can leave now.”
Ethan took a deep breath, “Let’s go.”
By the time Jackson arrived with his men, the Plain Mountain Creek Villa was dead silent. Only the bedroom Tiffany stayed in was dimly lit.
When Tiffany heard the chaotic footsteps, her first reaction was to cower at the foot of the bed in fear. By the time she managed to identify the person who had just barged into the room, she was stunned before her vision turned blurry with tears. “Jackson… You came…” Only now did she understand Ethan’s warning to her. Ethan knew that Jackson was coming and she would be released from his captivity.
Jackson was suddenly at a loss for words. It had only been two days since they saw each other, but she seemed to have lost a lot of weight. Her face was horribly pale and the bruises were still fresh on her body. Only God knew what had happened to her.
After a moment of silence, he finally spoke up. “I’m here to take you home.”
She nodded and finally gathered the courage to get up and throw herself into his arms. Even if she hated the touch of every man in the world, he was the only one that wouldn’t terrify her. A man whom she had shared the bed with so many times without doing anything to her would never treat her that way.
Jackson didn’t send her home immediately. In the car, he only cautiously asked, “Do you need to... get examined at the hospital?”
