Dangerous Love: You Are My One and Only Bride novel Chapter 1240

Mark took a seat and poured himself a glass. “Alright, spill it. What happened between you and Tiffany that she allowed you to come to a place like this alone?”

Jackson sank back into the couch and sighed. “Goddamnit. In the end, I’m right about the benefits of staying unmarried! Now, now, before you call me an a**hole for thinking like that, hear me out. I’m so done with that new kid at home! Seriously, that kid never! Stops! Yapping! All day, all night. It doesn’t matter, he yaps until no one gets to sleep. I swear, I’m gonna die out from extreme exhaustion if this keeps up,” he ranted, “You know what’s worse? Tiffany’s extremely patient with the little rascal. However, all her bad mood is vented on me! She exhausted all her patience with the kid and has none left for me! As if I have anything to do with it! Seriously, Mark, have you ever been so frustrated when you first started this whole being-a-father business?”

Mark thought for a second before he replied, “Uh, actually, I’m okay. My son isn’t the tantrum-throwing type. As he grows older, he has become even easier to care for. Honestly, I have no better advice than to tell you to be a bit more patient. Your kid should get better after a few months.” He paused briefly before he continued to say, “Hmm… It’s only natural that you’re taking this so badly. You’re used to having freedom… Freedom that you gave up for Tiffany. You think you signed up for a life of two… then, all of a sudden, a child appeared. It’s normal that you can’t find your bearing. It’s all very reasonable. Hey, if you can’t take it, why don’t you ask your mom to care for Plato? I thought she’d be beyond elated given the chance.”

Jackson became noticeably glum. “You really think that I haven’t thought about that? Here’s the thing. My house used to be a place for only me and Tiffany. Now, in addition to that little rascal, my mom is staying with us as well! Holy sh*t, I’ve never lived in a family of four before, and it’s really creeping me out. Every day I come home and think about how crazy the entire place has become,” he moaned. “You know, I tried to suggest having mom bring that little rascal back to Tiffany, but every time I mentioned it, Tiffany could have deafened me with her yelling alone. She’s vehemently against that idea. She wants the kid to be around her all. The. Damn. Time! I’m going insane, man. I only managed to escape here by lying about working overtime.”

Watching Jackson consecutively downing one after another glass made Mark cocked his eyebrow. “Hey, man, you’re setting yourself up for a fight if you return home with the breath of an alcoholic. You lied about working overtime, but you didn’t say you are… entertaining clients, did you? That flimsy lie isn’t gonna hold water. Are you so desperate for this momentary release that you don’t even care anymore? Or did you hit your head and lost some brain cells this morning?”

Jackson shot Mark a wistful look. “Hey, what if you hide me in your house tonight? That would be lovely. Sweet, sweet tranquillity, even if it’s just one night! Or I can tell her that you’re the one who insisted on drinking with me. Pick one of the options, bro. There are only two.”

Mark sneered. “Yeah, right. I’m not your scapegoat, pal. Jokes aside, I think you should discuss your problem with Tiffany, ‘cause bottling it up like this is a recipe for future troubles. You should have known this is how your life would be when you decided to marry her. You should have prepared yourself for what’s to come. So yeah, this is technically your fault,” he remarked before adding, “Speaking of, did you hear anything from Alejandro’s side?”
