Jared nodded, then headed toward the mountaintop with Wyatt and the others.

He was certain that once they reached the mountaintop, the majority of the alchemists would surely be there.

But shortly after they had set off, a series of loud sounds unexpectedly split the air.

Bolts of lightning suddenly shot from the mountaintop, striking the ground a near distance from Jared and the others.

At that moment, several deep crates were instantly carved into the mountainside from the lightning. Fragments of rock flew toward the crowd.

Upon witnessing that scene, many alchemists were rooted to the spot in shock.

With a casual wave of his hand, Jared conjured a shield and blocked off the fragments of rock. Otherwise, many would have been undoubtedly injured.

“President Chance, surely, you didn't travel all this way without encountering any danger?” Jared asked, curious.

“Not really. We did encounter some demon beasts, but we managed to slay them all. There weren't any other dangers!”

Wyatt shook his head.

“It seems that people ascending the mountain from different directions encounter different tests.”
