“You're being far too modest. This is all down to your exceptional talent. Now that you're the leader of Violet Flame Sect, its future development depends on you,” Gael chirped.

“No, no. My position as sect leader is only temporary. Once I've resolved the issues at hand, I'll have to leave. When that time comes, I'll pass on the leadership to Juliet,” Jared hurriedly said.

Jared thought that Gael had appointed him the new sect leader to pass the position on to Juliet eventually.

The other elders might disagree if Gael passed the sect leader position to Juliet.

After all, the position of Violet Flame Sect's sect leader wasn't by hereditary succession. Hence, Gael passing the position to his daughter would appear rather inappropriate.

If Jared were to hand the position to Jared, that would effectively shut the others up.
