Feena's heart sank when she heard Jack's compliment. She looked at him pointedly and asked, "Aren't you jealous?"
This reminded him of how he'd confessed his feelings for her by the riverside. He could face it without batting an eye now, though. Besides, he was dating Bella now, and it was clear that Feena had let go of the past if she could bring it up.
Since she'd moved on, why did he have to get his panties in a twist over it? He smiled and said, "Nope. Don't forget I'm getting it on with a beautiful woman from my university's music faculty now. Speaking of music, did you get any of the things I said earlier?"
She said, "Of course. Thanks, Jack. How are you and your girlfriend doing, actually?"
"Not too bad. We're progressing well," Jack answered.
"That's good." Feena continued, "I understand all the edits you make, so thanks for that. I should head back if there isn't anything else. Let's talk some other time."
Jack nodded. "Yeah. You should head back and dress your best—there's a grand confession event waiting for you tonight!"
"It's none of your business. I'll deal with that myself." She rolled her eyes at him before flouncing off.
Though she wanted to tell him how she felt, she'd ultimately kept the words to herself. She didn't think it was right for her to make the first move—it'd be best if he could confess to her again. Before that day arrived, she would display her best self and hope he would pursue her again.
As for the confession she'd already mustered up the courage to make? That could go to hell.
