Inside the Burke Estate, Adler and Jenna lugged a massive chest downstairs.
Jenna, exhausted, put her hands on her hips. "Man, that old lady sure knows how to hoard! What’s in here that’s so heavy?"
Adler chuckled. "Didn’t we see it before? Jewelry and, oh yeah, fifty kilograms of gold bars."
Jenna rolled her eyes, still panting. "Fifty kilograms? I thought it was a lot more."
"Just fifty kilograms? That’s still worth about three million dollars!"
As Adler spoke, he opened the chest. They had previously looked through it but hadn't done a thorough search. This time, they were on a mission to find items similar to the sapphire ring, which meant sifting through a treasure trove of jewelry—a daunting task.
"This old lady’s collection is something else. You can see these pieces are decades old."
"Could it be part of her dowry? Dowries can be super valuable!"
Jenna’s eyes sparkled at the thought.
Sophie chimed in, "Who knows, but it’s probably worth a couple hundred million."
Jenna picked up a necklace and draped it around her neck. "This one’s nice, right? Worth over a million."
Adler nodded earnestly. "Gorgeous!"
"If you like it, it’s yours," Sophie offered generously.
Jenna was taken aback and hesitated. "I thought this stuff was just collateral? The old lady doesn’t want it back?"
"She doesn’t want it," Sophie confirmed.
"How do you know? Did she say so?"
