Sophie stared at the folder in front of her, lost in thought for what felt like ages.
Gordon... Why would he give her such a lavish wedding gift? Was it really just to celebrate her marriage to Colby?
The next morning.
Three of them were sprawled across the bed in various positions, while Angelo and Adler were comfortably asleep on the nearby couch. They slept soundly until the first light of dawn crept into Sophie’s eyes.
Sophie groggily woke up to find the bed covered in opened presents. Jenna and Sandy were lying beside her.
It suddenly hit Sophie—they had spent the entire previous night tearing through gifts and had eventually passed out from sheer exhaustion without even finishing.
"Colby?"
Sophie looked around, but apart from Colby’s jacket draped over her, there was no sign of him.
*Knock, knock—*
A knock sounded at the door.
The noise woke everyone else in the room. Adler was the first to jump up from the couch, reacting instinctively: “I’m done! All the presents are opened! No more, please!”
Jenna rubbed her eyes and got up from the bed, asking, “Adler, what’s gotten into you so early in the morning?”
Sophie called out to the person at the door, “Come in.”
The door swung open, and a server wheeled in a trolley, saying, “Ms. Sophie, this is the breakfast Mr. Colby asked us to deliver.”
