The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 811

When his gaze fell on River holding Niki’s hand, the chill in his eyes intensified, threatening to freeze her where she stood.

Danielle froze, the bag in her hand nearly slipping from her grasp. She never imagined she would run into him here.

He was supposed to be at the institute this afternoon for a meeting. What was he doing at this restaurant?

Alexander hadn't expected to see this either. He had wrapped up his guild business early, hoping to see Danielle sooner, only to be told she had already left to pick up her daughter.

On a strange impulse, he had followed the GPS to a restaurant she might visit, only to find her laughing and talking with another man—a man who was holding Niki’s hand as if they were a family.

A heavy, suffocating feeling settled in his chest.

“Mommy, what’s wrong?” Niki asked, sensing her mother’s sudden stiffness.

She followed Danielle’s gaze and saw him. “Daddy…”

She let go of River’s hand and stood silently beside him.

River looked over as well and saw Alexander.

Daddy…

Yes. The resemblance was striking, especially in the eyes.

Danielle’s mind was a whirlwind of emotions. Composing herself, she walked over to Alexander. “What are you doing here? Weren’t we supposed to meet at the institute this afternoon?”

Alexander’s voice was flat, betraying no emotion. “I finished my work early, so I came to see you and Niki. And this is?”

Sensing the unusual tension, River stepped forward and extended a hand with a smile. “Hello. I’m River Atwood. I’m Chief Engineer Crawford’s colleague, and a friend.”

In front of others, Alexander was always composed and polite. He shook River’s hand and introduced himself.

“I see,” River said, his eyes now studying Alexander with a new curiosity. “Mr. Davidson, it’s an honor. I’ve heard a great deal about the young and brilliant President of the Northridge Guild. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”

Danielle watched them go, took a deep breath, and turned to River. “I’m so sorry. I’ll be right back.”

“It’s fine, go ahead,” River said with an easygoing smile. “Call me if you need anything.”

Danielle nodded and hurried out of the restaurant. She found Alexander standing on the sidewalk, holding Niki in his arms as he handed her an ice cream cone.

She walked up to them. “What is it you wanted to talk about?”

Alexander looked at her. “What is your relationship with that man?”

“He’s my colleague.”

Alexander was silent for a long moment, his eyes fixed on her.

“Is he good to you? Is he good to Niki?”
