The other side of the warehouse.
Samuel Chalmers locked eyes with the young boy in the cage for a second, suddenly sensing an approaching presence. In a flash, he disappeared from sight.
The small boy watched the person vanish, his pupils trembling slightly. The next second, sounds of a scuffle came from outside the warehouse. Soon, two figures opened the warehouse’s door and walked inside.
Callum Yuan’s gaze swept around the warehouse, seemingly noticing an unusual aura lingering.
Coming back to his senses, he looked again at the boy confined in the cage, both of their expressions mildly changing.
"A bunch of perverts!"
She shouldn’t have held back in the fight!
Hannah Hearne, for once, displayed a rare hint of annoyance.
The small boy in the cage was clearly showing signs of transformation.
This was an imp sprite captured by humans outside.
They had initially thought this imp sprite was one of the culprits responsible for abducting a kitten.
Only to find upon arriving here that this imp sprite was also one of the abducted.
But why were the two imp sprites taken to different places?
"Perhaps because he transformed."
Though Callum Yuan appeared youthful, his demon age and appearance didn’t quite match. Hence, he understood many things.
"Some humans enjoy collecting and studying non-human entities."
Driven by curiosity or a twisted love for surreal body art, when people go missing in certain countries, they may only be found later, with their torsos placed in vases.
Callum Yuan had heard about such things but hadn’t expected humans would dare target demons.
Hannah Hearne clearly thought of something, her face darkened as she approached, demonic power swirling in her palm, transforming into a claw and violently tearing the lock apart.
The lock hanging on the cage was instantly ripped apart. She entered, undoing all the chains restraining the small dog demon.
"Can you walk on your own?"
The small dog demon looked at Hannah Hearne yet showed no intention of leaving. Instead, he sat down, seemingly determined not to go.
His reaction left Hannah Hearne and Callum Yuan momentarily stunned.
"Why are you sitting? Go."
Thinking he misunderstood them as bad people, Hannah Hearne explained again, "We’re sent by the Mystic Regulation Office. The kitten’s mother you were kidnapped with has reported the case to us."
Upon hearing the words ’kitten,’ the dog demon’s ears twitched slightly, but he spoke, his voice hoarse,
"I won’t go."
"You kid... what’s the matter?!"
Hands on her hips, Hannah Hearne stood there while Callum Yuan quietly watched for two seconds before speaking, "We heard those people outside called a buyer over. If you don’t leave, the person who bought you will arrive soon."
Thinking these words might frighten the dog demon, but unexpectedly, the boy’s body shivered, yet he remained resolutely seated.
Hannah Hearne had never encountered such a stubborn imp sprite. With concerns for Scarlett Jennings’s situation, she quickly lost patience, turned, and stepped out of the cage, gesturing,
"Callum, knock him out and carry him away."
They weren’t human police. There wasn’t a rule against using force on imp sprites.
To the Demon Clan, if an imp sprite doesn’t understand, just beat them directly.
Anyhow, imp sprites are tough.
Though Callum Yuan disliked obeying her every command, he agreed with her plan and stepped forward to take Hannah’s place, intending to enter the cage.
