Lazio smiled smugly at Magnus and Kiara’s stunned expressions.
"Welcome to the city of the resistance!"
He cleared his throat when they didn’t give him the reaction he expected.
"Ahem, anyway. Friend, could you, uh, tone that aura down a bit? If we walk in like this, people might think we’re under attack."
’I almost forgot.’
Atticus still wasn’t entirely used to his viscount powers. He’d been unknowingly letting out heavy pressure and heat.
"Alright."
As Atticus reduced the effect of his will, Lazio nodded then ushered them in. A golden dome surrounded the entire city, but the group was able to phase through it without any problems and entered into the city.
’It’s her.’
Atticus could feel her familiar will instantly around the city.
’A will art that turns the entire city invisible.’
He wouldn’t expect any less from her.
’This is how they survived until now.’
As far as he knew, the Redflames ruled this entire region. Resistance or not, Atticus doubted they could go toe-to-toe against the Redflames.
As they ventured deeper into the city, Atticus soon began noticing the numerous eyes on them.
’Other gods.’
Considering the number of territories he had under him, his passive reach had expanded to such a level that he could feel the entire territory.
’They’re a lot.’
Atticus hadn’t seen the true extent of the resistance during his visit to Asterra. He had never truly imagined they’d be so many.
’At least a small army.’
His eyes cooled the next moment as he felt the hungry gazes settling on him.
’My beacons.’
"Don’t mind them," Lazio whispered quickly. "They’re just stunned by how many territories you control."
Atticus nodded, but he wasn’t fooled.
’They’re probing me.’
He could feel the hunger and greed in their eyes.
He could understand the sentiment. The number of beacons behind Atticus alone would grant one a passive reach that spanned an entire territory. It was an advantage most would desire.
Unfortunately, due to Lazio’s request, Atticus had retracted his overwhelming aura. To the other gods present, he seemed just like any other lower viscount.
Still, the resistance gods weren’t the only ones with greedy eyes.
’They’re all I need.’
The gods currently in the city were the answer to all his problems. He needed non red flame viscounts to kill and grow stronger. And the resistance viscounts were exactly that.
Killing and absorbing them would raise him to the peak of the viscount level. But...
’I have to hold myself back.’
He couldn’t do that to her. Especially when she’d just saved Magnus.
’Let’s just focus on the matter at hand.’
Atticus cleared his thoughts and silently followed behind Lazio. As they neared the middle of the city, the number of gods they saw grew. Atticus soon sighted a large building in the middle of a vast field.
’She’s there.’
He could feel a strong aura coming from the building. Aside from the Saint, the other powerhouses of the resistance were also gathered there.
As they landed and approached the entrance, a small group clad in radiant golden armor stepped forward.
"Only he can enter."
Atticus fixed his eyes on the man leading them. He was tall, broad and muscular. He had a stony presence to him, like nothing could shake him.
"Which is exactly what I’m doing. He may enter. The rest of you will remain outside."
